The Reform Temple of Rockland is honored to celebrate and support our members at every stage of their lives. Consecration marks the beginning of a child’s formal Jewish education. Traditionally this occurs when the child enters third grade. We celebrate Consecration on the occasion of Chanukah. This is a joyous celebration that involves our temple band, Chai Life and an array of traditional Chanukah foods and fun.

You have found your partner in life – Mazel Tov! Our clergy feel incredibly blessed to share in this incredibly milestone with you as you enter into the covenant of marriage.

Whether you have a life-long connection with RTR or are just beginning. Rabbi Sharff will spend time with you in the months leading up to your wedding. He will explore the traditional Jewish wedding ceremony and its rituals with you, and help you design a meaningful, personal ceremony. We are an inclusive community and we rejoice in working with Jewish, interfaith, and same-sex couples.

You can celebrate your marriage at RTR, too. Our beautiful sanctuary and our social halls can create the perfect celebration for your marriage.

End-of-Life

Funerals
We are here to support you in your time of need, with guidance and counseling before and after a death in your family. After a loved one dies, please call the Temple before making any arrangements so our clergy can assure their availability to be with you in your time of need. Our clergy can then meet with you and your family to help you choose the best way to honor your loved one, can connect you with a Jewish funeral home, and can officiate at your loved one’s funeral, burial and shiva services. Your Temple family and our Chesed Committee are here for you.
Grief & Mourning (Chesed, Shiva)
Our Chesed Committee actively cares for those grieving by providing a meal, and reaching out during this time of need.
Unveiling Service
When it’s time to mark the death of a loved one, traditionally a year later an unveiling service takes placed. Loved ones gather and remember the one loss by revealing the new headstone and placing a stone. Our Clergy are available to support you during these services. We also have materials available for you should you want to lead the service with your loved ones yourself.В
