Come and participate because we are brighter together!

It is often through our committees that members become involved in the congregation, in a way that truly and positively affects their lives, as well as the life of the congregation itself. It is easy to make new friends at The Reform Temple of Rockland, and to become an integral part of the RTR community.  Take a look at the various committees. Each one welcomes your participation. If any of the following committees appeals to you, we urge you to contact the chair or contact person listed below.

Adult Education - Adult Jewish learning is a priority of the Reform Movement, part of the lifelong pursuit of Jewish literacy and intellectual growth."
Union of Reform Judaism 2004." The Adult Education Committee has provided many varied learning experiences for Temple's congregation including Hebrew classes, Tastes of Judaism, field trips, Rabbi and Cantor's lectures, guest speakers, Torah topics, mini-kallahs and international Passover Seders.

Building and Grounds - is responsible for maintaining our building and property in good order and repair, for establishing regulations for the use of the physical facilities, and for overseeing functions.

Caring & Inclusion Initiative - strives to open additional points of access for individuals and their families for whom participation in all aspects of synagogue life – worship, religious school, and programming – is limited by various challenges.

Chesed - is concerned with the "good and welfare" of our congregants. It is available to assist our members in times of family or personal crisis. A phone call to the Rabbi or chairperson brings help when needed. The committee also wishes "mazal tov" on behalf of the congregation when simchas are celebrated.

Communications and Marketing - oversees the branding and communication of RTR.

Finance - Chaired by the Treasurer, this committee is responsible for preparing and monitoring current and long-term budget projections necessary for planning growth and maintaining sound fiscal policies.

Fundraising
 - The committee arranges for events throughout the year, which not only will serve to entertain and educate but, in the process, raise money so that more and better programs and events can always be in the offing.

Men's Club - Our mission is to support and sponsor the Temple's outstanding Youth Programs and outreach to Jewish Youth in our greater community. Through our efforts and fund-raising we provide the directors and staff for the entire program, and provide assistance to run our many activities and events.

Membership - disseminates information about our temple community and its potential to prospective new members. In addition to conducting an outreach program, it strives to help all members to become an integral part of the temple community. The committee also develops policies and programs for the retention of existing members.

Outreach - The committee encourages interfaith couples, Jews by choice, non-Jewish partners, returning Jews, and anyone new to Judaism to discover and identify with Jewish culture, traditions, and practices. Educational and social programs are held throughout the year.

Pulpit - Oversees internal relations between the clergy and temple leadership.

Ritual
 - in consultation with clergy, the Ritual Committee, oversees the religious aspects of Temple life. Our ongoing discussions focus on the most meaningful ways we can observe and celebrate Shabbat, the holidays, and life cycle events

Religious School - along with the Director of Education and the Rabbi, takes responsibility for the education of our children, who represent the future of our families and our extended Jewish Community. The committee helps formulate educational goals for toddlers through high schoolers, and evaluates the progress of the school. It also reviews the school's budget and the hiring of personnel.

Renaissance -

Sisterhood/WRJ (Women of Reform Judaism) - our sisterhood, is involved with all facets of life at the Reform Temple of Rockland. We are engaged in Tikkun Olam (repairing the world/social action) for Rockland County, our Country and Israel.

Social Action - informs the congregation about issues and programs whose goal is "Tikkun Olam," the perfecting of our world. This committee organizes temple participation in community programs, including hunger and homeless projects, interracial and interfaith dialogues, and other issues affecting the welfare of the Jewish Community in Rockland County.

Youth - gives direction to, and assists the Youth Advisors in carrying out the dozens of Youth Group activities each year. Other responsibilities include coordination of RTR-based conclaves and regional activities and oversight of the Youth Scholarship Fund, which offers youth group members financial assistance to a wide variety of youth programs.
